OAI Website Privacy Policy

The Open Archives Initiative website provides information related to OAI activities, and about the Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) and Object Reuse and Exchange (OAI-ORE) efforts in particular. Information about use of this website is collected as described below.

We collect normal web-server access logs which record time of access, IP address, user-agent, referrer, and request. We may mine these logs to assess use of the website but will not release information relating to individual users.
We use cookies to collect aggregated non-personal information. This information is used analyze use of the website and OAI specifications, and we may present or publish the results of such analyses. "Aggregate non-personal information" is information that is recorded about users and collected into groups so that it no longer reflects or references an individually identifiable user.
We run mailing lists (oai-general, oai-implementers) which require subscription. Personal information collected during subscription is used only to provide the mailing list service.
